Toyota H2GP 2023
The Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix is a comprehensive science and engineering program open to students globally. In the program students learn about decarbonization, the environment, renewable energy, and sustainability. Those lessons are enhanced by student teams using a DIY kit to build a 1:10 scale RC version of Toyota’s Mirai hydrogen fuel cell car. Each team car is powered by a 30-watt hydrogen fuel cell, which students then optimize over the course of their school semester for a Grand Prix racing competition in California. There are two regional qualifier races that eventually culminate for a State Finals for the top 20 teams in the state. The top 20 teams from around California put their best skills forward and compete in the Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix California State Finals powered by Toyota Mirai. The goal of the race is straightforward, the team that completes the most laps over the duration of the 4 hour competition wins and moves on to the World Finals in Netherlands.
